Guice had surgery on the knee Thursday morning, NFL Media reported, citing an unidentified source.

Guice reportedly had sought a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews, who trimmed the meniscus during Thursday's procedure.

According to ESPN earlier Thursday, the surgery typically would be expected to sideline Guice six to eight weeks.

It's a tough blow for Guice, who missed all of his rookie year in 2018 because of a torn ACL in his left knee suffered during the preseason.

The 22-year-old rushed for 18 yards on 10 carries in his first NFL game. His absence has pushed Adrian Peterson back into the starting lineup after he was deemed a healthy scratch for the first time in his career in Week 1.

Peterson, 34, led the Redskins in rushing last season with 1,042 yards on 251 carries and seven touchdowns.
